Entrepreneurs are a certain kind of crazy

To be an entrepreneur takes a lot of guts and a certain amount of insanity.

I know this because I am one.

And I'll be the first to admit it - the life of entrepreneurship is a roller coaster ride.

It means holding white-knuckled onto a vision that most of the time only you can understand (your friends and family may never get it).

You must be willing to take daily risks. And above all, you have to be relentlessly stubborn.

I've been an entrepreneur all my life.

I did try out a bit of dabbling (literally a few months here and there) with J-O-Bs in my 20s, but I immediately felt like a slug that has had salt dumped on it. {SHRIVEL}

Most of my time has been spent on the road of the business warrior.

So, if you are also an entrepreneurial superhero, I completely understand what you are going through and what drives you.

The burning desire for success

A lot of the time, I'm pretty sure all of us entrepreneurs are certifiably nuts.

It's like a full-blown addiction that you can't stop feeding.

You crave the highs of entrepreneurship. You desperately yearn for the feeling you get when a project goes flawlessly or when you land that one gig you've been working your ass towards for the last 6 months.

It's such a rush.

Unfortunately, there are also the lows - those days and weeks of the entrepreneurial hangover because a launch failed miserably or someone you thought was a great partner just ran off with your million-dollar idea.

There is the mind-numbing fear that you have to face each time you push your envelope to do something bigger than you've ever done.

And it's during those times that I think, "Entrepreneurship, sometimes 'I wish I knew how to quit you.'"

But don't ever, ever renounce your addiction because, despite the tough days, you know how much you love being an entrepreneur. You know it's worth it.

It is meaningful work.

Regardless of the roller coaster of up and down days, people need YOU.

Your ideal customers turn to you for solving a specific problem. And, they will pay you a premium price for you to solve their problems.

We each have certain skills and insights and perspectives that we can offer that are unique.

Your work is a guiding light

When you get stuck in the entrepreneurial abyss and you are ready to quit, then turn to your WHY.

If you ever doubt what you are doing and have temporarily lost your mojo, remember the deep-down, fire-in-your-belly reasons that you wanted to pursue your own business.

And then hunker down and start taking meaningful, persistent action.

Your body of work is important - it will serve as a beacon for many people.

Being an entrepreneur means being screamingly alive.

It's an exhilarating ride. It's raw.

And when we look back at our life, isn't it worth facing the struggles to be able to think, "I gave it my all. I went for my dream. Look at the people who I touched and who I helped."?

You choose your path

Entrepreneurship: you choose your path. To be an entrepreneur takes a lot of guts and a certain amount of insanity. I know this because I am one. And I'll be the first to admit it - the life of entrepreneurship is a roller coaster ride. Read more.

Always remember as an entrepreneur, you are the one in control.

You can choose to grow your business into whatever you want it to be.

You CAN live your infatuation...you can work your passion.

You can create a company that is built on smart, practical business strategies blended with your unique and amazing personal take on the world and infused with your personality. You can create a vibrant culture where people enjoy coming to work each and every day, and your customers are delighted to work with you and your team.

And whether entrepreneurship is wildly, ecstatically screaming to you or crooning softly into your ear, listen to what it says.

Get very quiet so you can hear what your heart is telling you to build...to grow...to be remarkable.

People need you. They want what you have to offer.

Ultimately it's up to you to take up the gauntlet and become a crusader.

It's your decision if you want to keep pursuing this insane, addicting life of the entrepreneur.

But if you do stay on this nutty path, then choose to be BIG and play a BIG game.

I mean, why the hell not?

Be a leader.

Grow that empire.

And start right now. The world is waiting.
